Loimi-Akha Headdresses from Thailand

Loimi-Akha Headdresses from Thailand

Left: Old Loimi-Akha woman in a village near Chiang Rai, Thailand, with her teeth stained by chewing betel nut. Right: a similar style Loimi-Akha headdress to that of the woman shown on the left, and collected in Thailand by Adelaide art connoisseur John Goldney, who sold it to us some years ago. Most Akhas now live in the northern provinces of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai of Thailand, constituting one of the largest of the hill tribes in that country.
